Cookie Policy — Gabriel Counselling
Last updated: [DATE]
[NOTE: The cookie tables below should be verified against what’s actually firing on the live site once Site Kit / analytics are added. Check in incognito with DevTools → Application → Cookies before final sign-off. Don’t list cookies that aren’t there; don’t omit ones that are.]
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They help the site work properly and can also be used to understand how people use the site. Some similar technologies — like tracking pixels and browser storage — do comparable things, and this policy covers those too.
2. The cookies we use
Strictly necessary (always on)
These are needed for the website to function and for your cookie choices to be remembered. They don’t require consent.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent preferences | Complianz / this site | Remembers your cookie choices | 12 months |
| Session cookies | This site (WordPress) | Basic site functionality | Session |
Analytics (consent required)
These help us understand how visitors use the site — for example which pages are visited — so we can improve it. They only load if you accept.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga* | Google Analytics | Measures site usage anonymously | Up to 2 years |
[TO CONFIRM once Site Kit / GA4 is installed post-launch — update this table to match what actually fires.]
Advertising / marketing
We do not currently use advertising or marketing cookies.
3. How we ask for consent
When you first visit, you’ll see a banner letting you choose. You can Accept All, Reject All, or Customise which types of cookies you allow. Non-essential cookies (like analytics) won’t load unless you agree to them.
4. Changing your mind
You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the “Cookie Settings” link in the website footer. You can also control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete them.
5. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. There isn’t yet an agreed industry standard for how sites should respond to it, so we currently treat your choices through our cookie banner as the way you control tracking on this site.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
