Neurodivergent Affirming Counselling
With Gabriel
HI, I’m Gabriel (he/they), a queer and neurodivergent person-centred counsellor.
My background in creative fields gives me a unique insight into the importance of self-expression and the courage it takes to forge an unconventional path.
I offer empathic, non-judgemental support for challenges including anxiety, relationship difficulties, and burnout. My goal is to help you re-build the bridge between simply existing and truly living.
My Approach to Counselling
Grounded in the person-centred approach, I believe you are the expert on your own.
We work collaboratively, honouring your pace and perspective. My background navigating different aspects of identity helps me connect with the nuances of individual experience and provide a space where diversity, in all its forms, is respected and valued. This creates a foundation of trust where you can explore difficult feelings, gain self-awareness, and move towards healing and growth.
My long-term yoga practice also supports my ability to remain present and grounded during our sessions.
While I welcome individuals facing diverse life challenges, my lived experience provides a particular understanding and allows me to offer specifically affirming support in these areas:
- LGBTQIA+ Affirming Counselling: A respectful and knowledgeable space for exploring gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship dynamics, processing discrimination, or simply being fully yourself without explanation. Focus areas include identity exploration, coming out, queer relationships, and navigating minority stress. You are welcome here.
- Neurodiversity-Affirming Counselling: Deep respect for your unique way of experiencing the world, whether you identify as autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent. This is a space that welcomes stimming, adapts to communication differences, and rejects the need for masking. Focus areas include self-understanding beyond diagnosis, managing sensory input or burnout, navigating relationships, late discovery, and celebrating neurodivergent strengths.
My Commitment to an Inclusive Practice
Your identity, history, and experiences matter. My practice is built on inclusivity, respect, and an understanding of the diverse challenges people face.
- Racial Justice Allied: I am committed to an anti-racist practice and equipped to support clients, particularly LGBTQIA+ People of Colour, in processing racial trauma and navigating systemic oppression.
- Sex Worker Allied: I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space for individuals in the sex industry to discuss any aspect of their life and work.
- HIV / AIDS Allied: I provide a stigma-free, knowledgeable, and supportive environment for individuals living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
